A little about us...
Paper Wilderness is a hand painted, hand lettered watercolor paper goods company created in Long Beach, California by me, Jenna Puente. I've been drawing and painting my entire life and always knew my career would involve art, I just had no idea how.
I grew up in San Diego near the world-famous zoo, and it definitely fueled my love of animals, and my favorite subject to paint. While attending college for a BFA in Illustration, I always hand painted custom greeting cards for my family and friends. Creating tiny custom works of art for loved ones with their favorite animals was the perfect gift and everyone was obsessed. At a friend's house one day, I discovered that she had framed her card and something clicked. I realized that these unique watercolor greeting cards could turn into something more and Paper Wilderness was born in 2014!
Every product begins as a watercolor painting and hand lettering on actual paper, in one of the millions of sketchbooks in my studio. A lifelong love of animals (especially the weird ones), nature, and puns combined with my quirky illustrations creates every item in my line. Another big source of inspiration is my cute little helper, Lou Lou the bunny!
My goal at Paper Wilderness is to foster connections and bring a smile to your face through adorable watercolor illustrations combined with a little bit of sass. I still illustrate and paint everything by hand for that handmade touch, to create a little work of art that makes the recipient feel like it was created just for them.
What began as individually hand painting each and every card to be sold at local art walks has evolved into what you see today, and we are still striving for bigger and greater things! Thanks so much for stopping by and following along on our journey.
